Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT) announced three new AI capabilities designed to help enterprises manage artificial intelligence adoption while maintaining data security and control. The company introduced Data Activate, AI Protect, and AI Studio as part of its Commvault Cloud platform.
Data Activate enables organizations to classify and prepare datasets from backup copies for use with large language models and AI platforms. The tool formats data in Apache Iceberg and Parquet formats while identifying and excluding personally identifiable information before dataset activation.
AI Protect will help organizations identify vulnerabilities and understand the impact of changes made by AI agents across their environments. The capability will discover and inventory agents while mapping their activity to AI technology stacks, allowing for full-stack recovery when needed.
AI Studio will allow organizations to create custom AI agents and access a repository of built-in agents for common use cases. The platform will integrate with enterprise systems through Commvault's Model Context Protocol server.
"Every enterprise era has produced a system of record – ERP for business operations, CRM for customers, and now AI for the enterprise," said Sanjay Mirchandani, President and CEO of Commvault. "If data powering AI is compromised, AI is compromised."
The announcement references a Deloitte study indicating that 60% of AI leaders cite risk and compliance concerns as barriers to AI adoption. Commvault's solutions aim to address these concerns by providing governance and recovery capabilities for AI-driven environments.
The company plans to host a webinar about the new capabilities on June 17, 2026.
