Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) announced that Foundayo (orforglipron) is now available to adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related medical problems following FDA approval on April 1, 2026. The once-daily oral medication can be taken without food or water restrictions.
Foundayo is available starting at $149 per month for self-pay patients at the lowest dose. Eligible commercially insured patients with coverage may pay as little as $25 per month with the Foundayo savings card. Medicare Part D individuals may access the medication for $50 per month beginning July 1, 2026.
The drug is accessible through LillyDirect and telehealth providers, with availability expanding to US retail pharmacies. In clinical trials, participants taking the highest dose who stayed on treatment lost an average of 27.3 pounds compared to 2.2 pounds with placebo.
The ATTAIN clinical trial program enrolled more than 4,500 people across two global registration trials. ATTAIN-1 randomized 3,127 participants across multiple countries, while ATTAIN-2 included over 1,600 participants with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes.
Foundayo carries warnings about potential thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. Common side effects include nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, indigestion, stomach pain, headache, swollen belly, fatigue, belching, heartburn, gas, and hair loss.
The medication should not be used with other GLP-1 receptor agonist medicines. Orforglipron was discovered by Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and licensed by Lilly in 2018.
