Longeveron receives Chinese patent for stem cell testing methods

Longeveron Inc. (NASDAQ: LGVN) announced that the China National Intellectual Property Administration has granted the company a patent covering potency assay methods for assessing human mesenchymal stem cells derived from various sources including bone marrow, adipose tissue, and umbilical cord.
China Patent No. 2026031300230720, titled "Potency Assay," provides Longeveron with patent rights in China through 2041. The patent relates to methods for testing stem cells derived from bone marrow, adipose tissue, peripheral blood, lung, heart, amniotic fluid, inner organs, amniotic membrane, umbilical cord, placenta, or those differentiated from induced pluripotent stem cells.
The patent addition brings Longeveron's international portfolio to 52 patents protecting its clinical programs and products globally, according to a company statement.
Longeveron is developing laromestrocel, a mesenchymal stem cell therapy isolated from bone marrow of adult donors. The company has conducted clinical trials for Alzheimer's disease, aging-related frailty, and hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare pediatric condition.
The company is currently conducting a Phase 2b clinical trial evaluating laromestrocel in hypoplastic left heart syndrome, with results anticipated in the third quarter of 2026. Laromestrocel development programs have received FDA designations including Orphan Drug, Fast Track, Rare Pediatric Disease, and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy designations for various indications.
