Kratos receives $446.8 million space force contract for missile warning system

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: KTOS) received a $446.8 million Other Transaction Agreement from the U.S. Space Force's Space Systems Command for the Ground Management and Integration agreement on the Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking program.

The contract includes potential options that bring the total value to $446.8 million. Kratos will serve as prime contractor supporting the development, deployment and sustainment of ground infrastructure required to operate Resilient MWT satellites in Medium Earth Orbit.

The program aims to build a ground architecture capable of managing multi-orbit satellite constellations. The Resilient MWT system is designed to provide detection, tracking and custody of missile threats, including hypersonic glide vehicles and maneuvering ballistic missiles.

Kratos will lead a team including Northrop Grumman, Auria, ASRC Federal Systems Solutions and Rise8 to establish primary and backup mission operations capabilities. The program will integrate legacy and next-generation ground assets into a single global network.

"A globally distributed ground architecture is essential for integrating multiple satellites, providers and mission systems," said Greg Caicedo, Senior Vice-President of Kratos Space, Training and Cyber Division.

The system will connect with multiple space vehicle providers and the Department of Defense's Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution platform. Kratos will use its OpenSpace software-defined ground system technology for the project.

Phil Carrai, President of Kratos Space, Training and Cyber Division, stated that the program requires engineering depth and operational experience to deliver integrated mission systems.
