QuantumScape adds former Air Force chief scientist to advisory board

QuantumScape Corporation (NASDAQ: QS) announced that Dr. Mark Maybury has joined its strategic advisory board. The appointment aims to support the solid-state battery company's expansion beyond automotive markets.
Dr. Maybury currently serves as Vice President of Commercialization, Engineering and Technology at Lockheed Martin, where he leads the transition of research into commercial and defense products. He served as Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force from 2010 to 2013, advising senior leadership on scientific and technical priorities.
His background includes senior leadership roles at MITRE, where he directed the National Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Center, and a position as Chief Technology Officer at Stanley Black & Decker. Dr. Maybury holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Dr. Maybury stated that QuantumScape's battery technology offers advantages for industrial and defense applications, including energy density, charging speed, and safety in operational environments. He expressed interest in supporting the commercialization of the company's solid-state battery technology across multiple sectors.
