Bausch + Lomb Corporation (NYSE: BLCO) announced the European commercial availability of its preloaded enVista Envy intraocular lens, marking the company's first diffractive premium IOL launch in the region.
The lens features ActivSync Optic technology for vision optimization across lighting conditions and offers astigmatism correction starting at 0.90 D at the IOL plane with 0.50 D increments. The product includes the EyeGility delivery system, designed for 2 mm incision injection and one-handed operation.
Clinical trial data from 332 subjects in the United States showed 86.1% of patients reported minimal issues with dysphotopsia effects including glare and halos. A separate Canadian study of 110 subjects found 95.4% reported little difficulty viewing close objects, with 93% expressing satisfaction with post-surgery vision.
"Bausch + Lomb now offers two full range of vision premium IOLs - enVista Envy and LuxLife to meet the evolving needs of surgeons and patients in Europe," said Luc Bonnefoy, president of Surgical at Bausch + Lomb.
The EyeGility delivery system provides up to 20 minutes of standby time from preparation to lens delivery and features an enlarged shuttle tab and viscoport for enhanced usability during surgical procedures.
Dr. Sheraz Daya, Medical Director at Centre for Sight in London, stated the lens "performs extremely well in our experience and does so with minimal photic issues, if any."
The enVista Envy represents Bausch + Lomb's expansion of its premium IOL portfolio in European markets, following successful deployment in North American markets.
