NewtekOne Inc. (NASDAQ: NEWT) originated 961 loans in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 40% increase from the first quarter of 2025. The company reported loan origination volume of approximately $391 million, up from $366 million in the same period last year.
The company attributed the increase to enhancements in its loan origination process, including the implementation of AI-powered resources and the launch of its Newtek Seven Day Business Loan product. Monthly volume accelerated through the quarter following these process improvements.
In March alone, NewtekOne originated 500 loan units, a 74% increase over the 287 units originated in March 2025. Dollar volume for March reached approximately $230 million, compared to $172 million in March 2025.
"After a slower start to the year due to implementing process enhancements and staff training, we were encouraged to see the number of units originated surge in the second half of the quarter following the launch of the Newtek Seven Day Business Loan," said Barry Sloane, chief executive officer, president and chairman.
The Newtek Seven Day Business Loan is funded within seven days of a completed loan application. The company stated that incorporating AI into the loan origination process has supported both deposit gathering and lending functions.
NewtekOne maintained its first quarter earnings per share guidance range of $0.37-$0.47 and full year guidance of $2.15-$2.55. The company is scheduled to hold an earnings conference call on April 30.
