Akamai wins Montana state data communications contract

Akamai Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM) received a data communications contract from the State of Montana that allows state and local agencies and educational institutions to purchase the company's security and cloud computing solutions through a streamlined procurement process.

The contract provides a pre-competed pathway for government entities to acquire technology services without traditional bidding requirements. State and local agencies can use the agreement to deploy security patches and cloud infrastructure more quickly, while educational institutions gain access to campus modernization tools and student data protection services.

Other U.S. states can utilize the contract through reciprocal agreements to diversify their technology procurement options, according to the company's announcement.

"Government agencies and schools need immediate access to industry-leading cloud and security tools without the administrative hurdles of traditional bidding," said Rob San Martin, Vice President of Public Sector at Akamai.

Akamai will work with Carahsoft Technologies to fulfill orders and provide technical support to participating agencies under the contract.

"By adding Akamai's portfolio to this Montana vehicle, we give our public sector customers a proven, competitive edge in securing their digital transformation initiatives," said Andres Azcuna, Sales Director at Carahsoft Technologies.

The agreement addresses procurement challenges faced by public sector organizations that must defend against cyberthreats while navigating complex purchasing processes, according to the press release statement.
