AMTD launches The Art Newspaper Hong Kong edition after registration
AMTD Group companies announced that The Art Newspaper received official registration approval from Hong Kong's Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration, enabling the launch of its inaugural Hong Kong edition.
The publication launched its March-April 2026 combined edition during Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 week. AMTD acquired The Art Newspaper in 2023, with the previous licensing agreement for China and Hong Kong expiring in October 2023.
Since October 2023, no monthly edition of The Art Newspaper had been distributed in China, Hong Kong, or other Asian markets until this launch. AMTD plans to launch The Art Newspaper China edition in October 2026.
The Art Newspaper serves as the designated publication for major art exhibitions and fairs globally and has maintained a 22-year partnership as global media partner with Art Basel, producing daily newspapers for Art Basel fairs including Art Basel Hong Kong.
AMTD IDEA Group (NYSE: AMTD), AMTD Digital Inc. (NYSE: HKD), and The Generation Essentials Group (NYSE: TGE) jointly made the announcement. The Generation Essentials Group, a subsidiary of AMTD Digital Inc., comprises various media properties including L'Officiel and The Art Newspaper.
Both the China and Hong Kong editions will operate under a direct owner model without franchisee involvement, according to the press release statement.
