Photronics, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLAB) received delivery of an advanced mask writer for flat panel display production at its Korea facility, the company announced. The tool installation is scheduled for fiscal second quarter 2026.
The mask writer enables production of AMOLED photomasks, including G8.6 mask sizes. According to Chairman and CEO George Macricostas, Photronics is the first company to install this particular mask writer model.
"The mask writer will improve the quality and capabilities of developing leading edge masks," Macricostas said in a statement.
The equipment enhances mask writing stability, accuracy and resolution for display photomask manufacturing. HK Park, General Manager FPD, stated the tool delivers accuracy and throughput while maintaining writing speed.
The mask writer supports production of photomasks used in next-generation AMOLED and IT OLED displays. These photomasks help create displays with enhanced resolution, brightness and refresh rates, according to the company.
Photronics manufactures integrated circuit and flat panel display photomasks, which are quartz plates containing microscopic images of electronic circuits used in semiconductor and display manufacturing. The company operates 11 manufacturing facilities across Asia, Europe and North America.
