PowerBank Corporation (NASDAQ: SUUN) announced that its 4.22 MW solar project at Grandview Road in Pennsylvania has completed the Interconnection Impact Review. The ground-mount solar project is part of a larger Pennsylvania development that was previously announced as a 13.8 MW project in Lancaster County but has been divided into multiple projects.
The company plans to operate the project as a community solar initiative, pending permits, financing, and approval of House Bill 1842. The community solar model allows renters, businesses, and homeowners to subscribe to the solar farm and receive bill credits without installing on-site equipment.
House Bill 1842, which would enable community solar projects in Pennsylvania, passed the Pennsylvania House on March 26, 2024, and again on May 7, 2025, with natural gas provisions added. The bill is currently under Senate review. If the legislation does not pass, the project will proceed as a net metered system under the Pennsylvania Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act.
PowerBank stated it has completed over 100 MW of projects and maintains a development pipeline exceeding 1 GW. The company develops solar, battery energy storage, and electric vehicle charging projects across North American markets.
The company noted several risks associated with project development, including the need for community solar contracts, required permits, House Bill 1842 approval, third-party financing availability, and potential changes to government incentives for solar power.
