Abbott (NYSE: ABT) announced an integration with Flatiron Health that will allow oncology providers to order Abbott's precision oncology tests directly through Flatiron's OncoEMR electronic medical record platform.
The integration provides access to Abbott's oncology test portfolio across more than 1,600 community cancer care centers and 4,700 providers in Flatiron's North America network. Available tests include the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score, OncoExTra, Oncodetect, and Riskguard tests.
Through the integration, oncologists can digitally order Abbott tests and receive status updates and results within their existing OncoEMR clinical workflow. The system allows providers to order tests individually or in combination through a single interface.
"By integrating Abbott's Precision Oncology portfolio directly into OncoEMR, we're reducing friction in the workflow and helping providers move faster – from test ordering to treatment decisions," said Quincy Weatherspoon, VP and GM of Point of Care Solutions at Flatiron Health.
Brian Baranick, vice president of Precision Oncology at Abbott, said the integration "removes a key barrier to accessing our portfolio at the point of care" for community oncology practices where most cancer care is delivered.
Flatiron Health operates a cloud-based electronic medical record platform for oncology practices. The company is an independent affiliate of the Roche Group and focuses on point-of-care solutions in oncology.
The information is based on a press release statement from Abbott.
