Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (NASDAQ: KTOS) received a $49 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division for production and delivery of up to 36 Oriole solid rocket motors and three Thrust Vector Control nozzle kits.
The contract includes a funded base award for Oriole systems with options that, if fully exercised, bring the total value for solid rockets to $39,077,237. An additional option for three Oriole TVC production kits is valued at $10,136,009.
The Oriole rocket system supports the Navy's suborbital target and experimental hypersonic test requirements. The company stated the systems are designed for rapid delivery and fielding to support test and evaluation schedules.
"Kratos continues to provide the Department of War with proven, affordable, and rapid turn-key launch vehicle solutions," said Dave Carter, President of Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services.
This contract continues Kratos' partnership with NSWC PHD in support of ballistic missile defense, hypersonic research, and other test programs. The San Diego-based company develops technology and systems for defense, national security, and commercial markets.
Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, said the company focuses on making internal investments to deliver affordable, mission-relevant hardware to address national security challenges.
The information was disclosed in a company press release statement.
