Vera Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: VERA) appointed Jane Wright-Mitchell as chief legal officer, effective immediately, the company announced March 25.
Wright-Mitchell, who holds both pharmacy and law degrees, previously worked with Vera Therapeutics as a strategic legal consultant. She brings over 25 years of experience advising public and private companies on regulatory approvals, commercialization and intellectual property management.
The biotechnology company, focused on developing treatments for immunological diseases, said Wright-Mitchell will support the organization through potential commercial launch of atacicept, its dual BAFF/APRIL inhibitor being developed for patients with IgA nephropathy.
Wright-Mitchell most recently served as fractional general counsel for life sciences companies. She previously held the position of general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary at Vaxcyte Inc. (NASDAQ: PCVX) and served as chief legal officer at other pharmaceutical and research companies.
Wright-Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Clemson University, a pharmacy doctorate from the University of Illinois, Chicago and a law degree from Chicago Kent College of Law. She is a registered pharmacist and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Vera Therapeutics develops atacicept as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection that blocks both B-cell Activating Factor and A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand, which stimulate B cells to produce autoantibodies. The company also holds licensing agreements for additional treatments targeting similar pathways.
