Gevo highlights intellectual property portfolio for global expansion

Gevo Inc. (NASDAQ: GEVO) announced plans to leverage its intellectual property portfolio for global expansion through licensing and franchise development, according to a company statement.

The renewable fuels company holds more than 550 issued and pending patents related to converting bio-based feedstocks into hydrocarbons and chemicals. Gevo received 17 patents over the past two years covering technology for fuel and chemical production, including production technologies and business systems.

"We are developing the playbook containing Gevo's intellectual property and business system that can be replicated globally," said Paul Bloom, president of Gevo. "We believe this can enable a franchise approach to deploying SAF around the world and enhance revenue generation for our technology, business systems, and expertise."

The patent portfolio includes Alcohol-to-Jet and Ethanol-to-Olefins pathways for producing sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel, and renewable chemical intermediates. The company's intellectual property also covers integrated production technologies and carbon management systems.

Gevo operates an ethanol plant with carbon capture and sequestration facility, a dairy-based renewable natural gas facility, and the world's first production facility for specialty ATJ fuels and chemicals, which has operated since 2012. The company is developing what it describes as the world's first large-scale ATJ facility in North Dakota.

The Englewood, Colorado-based company provides fuel and chemical production technology focused on sustainable aviation fuel and other renewable products.
