Unilever confirms discussions with McCormick about potential Foods sale
Unilever PLC confirmed it has received an offer for its Foods business and is in discussions with McCormick & Company, Inc., according to a company statement.
The consumer goods company said it has been subject to recent media speculation regarding a potential transaction involving its Foods division. Unilever noted there is no certainty that any transaction will be agreed.
The company's board described the Foods business as having a strong financial profile with market-leading brands in growing categories. The board expressed confidence in the future of the Foods business as part of Unilever.
The statement represents Unilever's first official confirmation of discussions with McCormick, a spice and seasoning company, regarding the potential sale of its Foods unit.
