Upwork GM of marketplace to resign, receives separation agreement

Upwork Inc. (NASDAQ: UPWK) announced that David T. Bottoms, the company's General Manager of Marketplace, will resign from his position effective April 3, 2026.

The freelance platform reached an agreement with Bottoms on March 12, 2026, regarding his departure. A formal separation agreement was executed on March 17, 2026, according to a company statement.

Under the separation agreement, Bottoms will receive a lump sum payment equivalent to twelve months of base salary and reimbursement for COBRA insurance premiums for up to twelve months. His outstanding equity awards will continue to vest through his final employment date.

Anthony Kappus, Upwork's General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, will assume leadership of all marketplace-related teams starting April 4, 2026. Engineering teams will remain under Andrew Rabinovich, the company's Chief Technology Officer and Head of AI/ML.

The company stated it will file the complete separation agreement as an exhibit to its quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the fiscal quarter ending March 31, 2026.
