SoundHound AI, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOUN) announced that Chief Financial Officer Nitesh Sharan will leave the company on April 3, 2026, to take a leadership position at a quantum computing company.
Co-founder and Chief Product Officer James Hom will serve as interim CFO while the company searches for a permanent replacement with the help of an executive search firm. Hom previously served as the company's first CFO from its founding in 2005. Sharan will remain as an advisor to support the transition.
During Sharan's tenure, the company reported an eight-fold increase in revenue. "Nitesh has been a valued and respected partner to our leadership team, helping us scale SoundHound AI into a global leader in our industry," said CEO and Co-Founder Keyvan Mohajer in a statement.
The Santa Clara, California-based company develops voice and conversational AI solutions for businesses across retail, financial services, healthcare, automotive, smart devices, and restaurants.
Sharan expressed confidence in the company's future direction. "SoundHound is well positioned to continue to thrive for years to come, with a strong team in place to execute the company's exciting vision," he said. He indicated plans to remain a long-term shareholder of the company.
The leadership change comes as SoundHound AI continues to expand its AI-driven products, which include Smart Answering, Smart Ordering, Dynamic Drive-Thru, and the Amelia Platform for enterprise AI agents.
