DNAnexus announced a collaboration with Oracle Health to integrate genomic data capabilities into select Oracle Health clinical applications. The partnership aims to combine DNAnexus' genomics data infrastructure with Oracle Health's electronic health record system.
The integration is structured as part of a non-binding agreement and is expected to enable continuous examination of clinical interpretations of genomics results. The system would allow healthcare providers to access genomic data alongside patient medical history at the point of care.
"This collaboration is about enabling a new era of data-driven healthcare," said Thomas Laur, CEO of DNAnexus. "By aligning our technology with Oracle's EHR, we can help customers fully harness the power of molecular data, bringing critical context and insights to the point of care."
Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, stated that the collaboration represents "a key step toward building a learning health system that adapts in real time to the needs of patients, clinicians, and researchers around the world."
The announcement was made at the Oracle Health and Life Sciences Summit in Orlando, Florida. DNAnexus operates as a provider of enterprise platforms for precision health data, while Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) offers integrated application suites and cloud infrastructure services.
The companies indicated the integration would support examination of genomic data interpretations to help physicians understand potential health impacts and treatment plan adjustments for patients.
