According to a notice by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Thursday, electric vehicle maker, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is recalling 159 Model S and Model X cars due to an issue concerning the vehicle’s airbag systems.
According to the notice, the incorrect airbags may have been installed in select models made in 2021-2023 when the steering yoke or round steering wheel was replaced with a different style of yoke or steering wheel. The improper airbag may deploy incorrectly, increasing the possibility of injury during a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 2, 2024. Tesla Service will inspect and replace the driver air bag as necessary, free of charge.
