Boeing (NYSE: BA) is the front-runner to book an order for approximately 25 wide-body planes from IndiGo, Reuters said in a report Monday.
With India's largest airline increasing its expansion globally, the company is said to be in discussions with Boeing to purchase the plane maker's 787 family of twin-aisle aircraft. The aircraft was competing with Airbus' A330neo jets.
However, the publication stated that no decision had been finalized, with Boeing and IndiGo refusing to comment.
In June, it was reported that Airbus had struck a record deal to sell 500 of its A320neo planes to IndiGo after months of negotiations.
Carriers in the country like IndiGo, which has a 58% share of India's domestic market, are aiming to expand rapidly with demand for air travel surging following the Covid-19 pandemic.
