American automaker Stellantis (NYSE: STLA) announced Thursday that they have issued a recall order for approximately 220 of its Mopar Service Kit – Hybrid Battery Packs with part number 68488244AA. A hybrid battery pack made to fit Jeep Wranglers made between 2021 and 2023.
The recall is being made because the high voltage (HV) battery pack assembly was built with incorrect fasteners to secure the 200-amp fuse, which can generate excessive heat. The excessive heat generated may cause the fuse to fail, resulting in a loss of drive power and an increased risk of a crash.
The affected part population was produced between December 15th, 2021, and May 18th, 2022.
Dealers will inspect and replace the HV battery fuse as necessary. Dealers will also inspect the battery assembly for damage and replace it if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge.
Shares of STLA are down 0.09% in afternoon trading on Thursday.
