After a two-year suspension Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) has reinstated former US President Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts, it was revealed on Thursday.
In January, Meta said it would end Trump's suspension in the next few weeks and impose stricter penalties, including a suspension of one to two years, should the former president break its content guidelines once more.
Trump now has access to the platforms, which have a significant reach. His Instagram account has 23.4 million followers, while his Facebook account has 34 million. Last year, following his purchase of Twitter, Elon Musk restored Trump's Twitter account, although the former president has yet to post on the platform.
Meta Platforms shares are down more than 2% on Thursday, although the stock is up more than 46% this year.
