Ford (NYSE: F) announced Tuesday that they have decided to add a third work crew at the company’s assembly plant near Detroit as the automaker boosts production of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck. Ford said it added 250 jobs in November at its Rouge plant in Dearborn, Michigan, as a result of the additional crew.
It was also announced Tuesday that Ford’s F-150 Lightning won the MotorTrend truck of the year for 2023. The last time Ford won the award was in 2018 with the F-150 and F-150 Raptor. This is Fords first truck of the year win with an electric pickup, and the second electric vehicle to win the award.
The company previously reported that they are targeting an annual production of 150,000 Lightning electric pickups by the fall of 2023.
Shares of F are down 0.41% in mid-day trading on Tuesday.
