Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) manufactured approximately 600 vehicles on April 19 after it restarted production, with the output rate rising steadily, according to a statement by the Shanghai government.
Chinese state-owned carmaker SAIC Motor produced over 200 vehicles on April 19.
The government said that more than 60% of 666 major businesses in Shanghai, or 403 companies, have restarted production as of April. The city continues its recovery from the latest coronavirus wave and plans to begin its campaign to achieve “no community spread” on Friday.
However, the majority of residential communities in the city will remain under lockdown. The number of severe covid cases increased by threefold in 24 hours on Thursday, according to the Shanghai government.
Some analysts have warned that the halt in Shanghai production will likely hurt Q2 deliveries.
