Shares of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: REGN) are up 1.5% in pre-open Monday after the company announced new phase 3 trial results for its antibody cocktail against COVID-19 infections.
Data showed that risks of getting COVID-19 were slashed by 82% for up to eight months in patients that were given the antibody cocktail “REGEN-COV”. Regeneron has now asked the FDA to expand the emergency use authorization (EUA) besides outpatients at risk of developing severe symptoms
“These data add to the increasing body of evidence supporting use of REGEN-COV to prevent Covid-19 in uninfected individuals, which may be especially useful for the many immunocompromised people who do not respond adequately to vaccines and remain ‘prisoners of the pandemic,’” George Yancopoulos, president and chief scientific officer at Regeneron, said in a statement.
Today’s news comes days after both Merck (NYSE: MRK) and Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) announced positive results for their pills.
Shares are up 26.6% YTD.
