Commenting on a Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhonx X teardown, Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang said they believe Himax (NASDAQ: HIMX) supplies diffusers in the flood illuminator module rather than WLO or DOE in the dot projector.

"In our view, the diffuser is a commodity product used by LED lights and with ASP of $0.30, which could be easily replaced by other suppliers such as RPC Photonics and CDA," he commented.

They expect AMS to continue to be the sole source for WLO

Meanwhile STMicro (NYSE: STM) likely has the highest dollar content in 3D sensing, whereas Lumentum (NASDAQ: LITE) in their view likely maintain its dominant position in VCSEL lasers.

Their research suggests Viavi (NASDAQ: VIAV) also has two RGB low-end filters in the proximity sensor—we note that Viavi has similar content in the iPhone 7 and 6S
