RYE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Gabelli & Company is pleased to announce its preliminary line-up for the inaugural Financial Services Conference, which will center on several key themes including the emergence of crypto-currencies, the impact from Blockchain technologies and innovation in asset management.

The keynote speaker will be Columbia University Professor, R.A. Farrokhnia. A recipient of the Dean’s Award for teaching excellence, Mr. Farrokhnia is the Executive Director at the Dean’s Office of “Advanced Projects and Applied Research in Fintech.” His professional background encompasses innovation-driven principal investments in start-ups, M&A, operations management with an emphasis on financial services.

Prior to the keynote, Avi Salzman of Barron’s will be leading a panel on Blockchain. Distinguished panelists include CEO, Mike Bodson and Executive Director of Strategy and Development, Jennifer Peve of DTCC as well as Managing Director, Charley Cooper of R3.

IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde recently stated that “we are about to see massive disruptions” with financial technology. Kayvon Pirestani, Director at Coinbase will be presenting on the global crypto-currency phenomenon. Founded in 2012, Coinbase is a digital currency wallet and platform for transacting currencies like bitcoin, ethereum and litecoin. The firm has 11 million users and has raised over $100 million from distinguished firms Andreessen Horowitz, Intercontinental Exchange Inc. (ICE – NYSE) and Union Square Ventures.
