Marathon Petroleum (NYSE: MPC) reported Q1 EPS of $0.01, $0.14 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.15. Revenue for the quarter came in at $12.83 billion versus the consensus estimate of $13.08 billion.
First-quarter 2016 earnings include a charge of $0.04 per diluted share related to a goodwill impairment recorded by MPLX LP (NYSE: MPLX), MPC's consolidated subsidiary, and a charge of $0.02 per diluted share to value inventories at the lower of cost or market.
