DA Davidson analyst Tom White raised the price target on TripAdvisor (NASDAQ: TRIP) to $15.50 (from $10.50) while maintaining a Neutral rating.

The analyst commented: "We remain NEUTRAL, but if TheFork is worth $700M...- then it certainly makes it easier to underwrite a bullish SOTP-based thesis for Viator + TRIP's legacy Hotel/other businesses. We affirm our NEUTRAL rating, but raise our price target from $10.50 to $15.50 (which implies an unchanged 4x multiple on TRIP's 2026 adj. EBITDA ex TheFork and assuming $700M in cash proceeds). TripAdvisor Inc. (NASDAQ: TRIP) announced it has entered into a put option agreement to sell TheFork, its European restaurant reservation platform, to American Express Co. for $700 million in cash.

The transaction follows TripAdvisor's February announcement that it would explore strategic alternatives for TheFork. The deal allows TripAdvisor to focus on its experiences business strategy.

"This agreement reflects two things we believe deeply: the tangible value across Tripadvisor Group's portfolio and our ongoing focus on the opportunity we see ahead in Experiences," said Matt Goldberg, CEO of Tripadvisor Group.

American Express (NYSE: AXP) announced it will acquire TheFork, a European restaurant booking platform, from Tripadvisor Inc. (NASDAQ: TRIP) for $700 million in cash, according to a company statement.

TheFork operates in 11 European countries, connecting diners with more than 50,000 restaurants through its reservation management and booking platform. The acquisition would expand American Express' dining network to 75,000 bookable venues when combined with its existing Resy and Tock platforms.

The transaction is expected to close before the end of 2026, subject to labor consultation and regulatory approvals. TheFork will continue operating under its current leadership team following the acquisition.
