Barclays analyst John Babcock raised the price target on CarMax (NYSE: KMX) to $31.00 (from $26.00) while maintaining a Underweight rating.

The analyst comments "We stay Underweight on KMX. The company has an uneven track record of performance and there could be meaningful changes at the company in F2027 with its new CEO. We are optimistic on the potential for KMX to meaningfully improve the business, but would like to see more signs that its execution and strategy will deliver growth before getting more constructive."

CarMax Inc. (NYSE: KMX) announced that Jill Livesay, Vice President, Controller and Principal Accounting Officer, plans to retire effective July 31, 2026. The company stated that Livesay's retirement decision does not result from any disagreement with the company regarding operations, policies, practices, accounting principles, financial statements, or internal controls.

The used car retailer appointed Enrique N. Mayor-Mora, currently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, as principal accounting officer effective upon Livesay's retirement. Mayor-Mora will not receive additional compensation for assuming the principal accounting officer duties.

UBS analyst Joseph Spak initiates coverage on CarMax (NYSE: KMX) with a Neutral rating and a price target of $42.00.

The analyst comments: “We initiate coverage of KMX with a Neutral rating. In order to return to growth, KMX may need to lower target used GPU in order to reaccelerate sales, which could put downward pressure on profitability. And while there could be downward risk to estimates if GPU/sales come in lower than expected, we believe the market is properly pricing in this risk (KMX stock is currently trading at 13.3x FY28 consensus estimates.
