Visteon launches edge AI product line for factory automation

June 18, 2026 9:01 AM

Visteon Corporation (NASDAQ: VC) introduced D6Sigma, an edge AI product line for industrial automation developed with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., according to a company press release dated June 18, 2026.

The product line runs on Visteon's CognitoAI™-IoT platform and Qualcomm Dragonwing™ IQ9 Series processors, processing multiple camera streams locally to generate operational data for manufacturers. Use cases include quality inspection, defect detection, line monitoring, worker safety and PPE compliance, changeover verification, and automated guided vehicle traffic monitoring.

Visteon said it is already deploying the technology in its own manufacturing plants before offering it to outside customers. Target markets include automotive and electric-vehicle manufacturing, consumer electronics, SMT/PCB assembly, heavy manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage.

Sachin Lawande, President and CEO of Visteon, said in the release: "We are proving the technology in our own manufacturing plants first, which gives us real conviction in its value to manufacturers worldwide."

The platform incorporates Qualcomm's Edge Impulse MLOps layer, the Qualcomm Insight Platform for video analytics, and FoundriesFactory for device management. Nakul Duggal, Group General Manager for Automotive and Industrial & Embedded IoT at Qualcomm Technologies, said the collaboration "is now accelerating into industrial IoT, where many of the same requirements for performance, reliability, and scale apply."

Visteon highlighted micro-stoppages — brief, recurring production halts that often go unrecorded — as one problem the system addresses by detecting and classifying them automatically as they occur.

Visteon is headquartered in Van Buren Township, Michigan, and operates in 17 countries.
