WISeKey International Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: WKEY) announced that its subsidiary SEALSQ Corp. (NASDAQ: LAES) has been granted a divisional patent by the European Patent Office for technology that provisions Non-Fungible Tokens directly into secure semiconductor chips, linking digital assets to physical objects at the hardware level.

The patent, registered as EP 22200142.2 / EP 4174706 A1, covers what the company calls "Back-to-Physical" NFT technology. The patent portfolio spans a Swiss priority filing from October 2021, the granted European patent, and a pending U.S. application (US 17/514,296) at the USPTO. An additional EPO divisional application is under examination.

WISeKey states its WISe.ART subsidiary, a digital art marketplace, is now using this technology to anchor artwork provenance records to SEALSQ secure microcontrollers physically associated with artworks. The company claims this creates an immutable Digital Product Passport carrying ownership history, exhibition records, and transfer documents. The system uses post-quantum cryptography and allows decentralized verification without reliance on a central server.

Carlos Moreira, founder and CEO of WISeKey, said, "For the first time, collectors, institutions, and artists have access to provenance that is not only blockchain-recorded but silicon-sealed, post-quantum secured, and independently verifiable without any centralized authority."

WISeKey also noted the Digital Product Passport framework is designed to align with emerging European regulations mandating such passports across high-value industries. The company cited the global art market as transacting approximately $65 billion annually, and said SEALSQ's patent opens the technology to commercial licensing across luxury goods, collectibles, and cultural heritage sectors.
