VinFast is marketing its VF 8 electric SUV to Canadian drivers, highlighting a 10-year or 200,000-kilometre vehicle warranty and a 10-year unlimited-kilometre battery warranty for non-commercial use, according to a company statement.

The mid-size VF 8 offers 376 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 1,373 litres with the seats folded. Standard features include heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel.

VinFast, an automotive manufacturer based in Vietnam, cited a study published in Environmental Research Letters, led by researchers at MIT, which found that battery electric vehicles typically reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% to 60% compared with gasoline-powered vehicles, depending on factors including local electricity generation and driving habits.

The company quoted several Canadian owners in its statement. Sylvain C. said he has driven approximately 85,000 kilometres in the vehicle in under two years, adding: "85,000 km done in almost two years and no regret. I like it." Another owner, Kapildev V., said the vehicle's "instant torque is incredible" and identified the heads-up display as a favorite feature.

Ontario owner Milan M. reported completing a roughly 2,000-kilometre round trip from Hamilton to New York City in the VF 8.
