June 16, 2026 6:28 AM

Investing.com -- Ericsson announced today that Per Narvinger will become President and CEO on October 1, 2026, as Börje Ekholm steps down from the position.

Narvinger joined Ericsson in 1997 and has worked across multiple areas including research, standardization, development, product management, and sales. He has held senior leadership roles with global customer engagement and completed long-term assignments in Australia and Spain. Since March 15, 2025, Narvinger has led Business Area Networks, and previously headed Business Area Cloud Software and Services starting in 2022.

Jan Carlson, Chair of Ericsson's Board of Directors, said the board selected Narvinger for his technical knowledge and commercial experience gained through several key leadership positions.

"It is a great honor to step into this role in a company where I have spent my entire professional career," Narvinger said. "It has been a pleasure working with Börje in our joint efforts to create a stronger Ericsson."

Ekholm will retire from the company after more than nine years as President and CEO and 20 years as a Board member. He will step down from his CEO role on September 30, 2026, and serve as executive advisor to Narvinger until June 15, 2027. He will also leave the Board of Directors on October 1, 2026.

The Board of Directors executed the CEO succession as part of the company's ongoing leadership and governance planning.

Ekholm joined as CEO in 2017 when the company faced challenges. "Since then we have turned Ericsson around and emerged as a global communications and technology leader," Ekholm said.
