June 15, 2026 9:01 AM

LPL Financial LLC announced that financial advisors from Fortress Financial Planning joined its broker-dealer and registered investment advisor platform. The advisors, Bassem Moez and James Darden, manage approximately $150 million in advisory, brokerage and retirement plan assets and transferred from MassMutual.

Based in the Detroit metro area, Fortress Financial Planning serves pre-retirees, retirees and professionals including physicians and business owners. Moez holds the CRPC designation while Darden has a law degree.

Moez previously worked with LPL Financial for eight years before his tenure at MassMutual. "Having worked with LPL in the past, I saw firsthand that it provides the flexibility and open architecture needed to deliver financial advice in our clients' best interests," Moez said in the announcement.

The advisors cited LPL's platform capabilities and independence model as factors in their decision to join the firm. "For me, the move to LPL represents an opportunity to expand that independence even further," Darden stated.

Marc Cohen, chief growth officer at LPL, said the advisors' approach aligns with the firm's focus on supporting advisor independence and personalized client service.

LPL Financial Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: LPLA) supports more than 32,000 financial advisors and approximately 1,100 financial institutions. The firm services approximately $2.3 trillion in brokerage and advisory assets for about 8 million clients, according to the company statement.

The asset figures were based on details provided to LPL from the end of 2025, according to the announcement made June 15, 2026.
