Flagstar Bank files for trademark and patent on technology platform
Flagstar Bank, N.A. (NYSE: FLG) announced it has filed for trademark registration of its technology platform and a provisional patent application for its artificial intelligence system, according to a company statement.
The bank applied for trademark protection for its "Flagstar S2 Platform," which consolidates technology from three legacy banking environments including Flagstar Bank, New York Community Bank, and Signature Bank. The trademark application covers computer and software services, financial services, and technology platform services.
Flagstar also filed a provisional patent application for StarIQ, its enterprise AI system deployed in early 2026. The system integrates multiple AI models including Anthropic Claude, Meta Llama, Mistral, and Amazon Titan, powered by Amazon Web Services and secured by Palo Alto Networks.
The patent application, titled "Techniques for Secure Enterprise Generative Artificial Intelligence Orchestration," covers the system's multi-model AI orchestration architecture, security layer, document retrieval pipeline, and governance framework.
"Technology innovation is a key part of the Bank's strategic plan and central to achieving our vision of being a best-in-class bank for all of our customers," said Christopher Higgins, Executive Vice President and Chief Information & Operations Officer.
As of March 31, 2026, Flagstar Bank reported $87.1 billion in assets, $60.7 billion in loans, $66.8 billion in deposits, and $8.1 billion in total stockholders' equity. The bank operates approximately 340 locations across nine states.
