Enlivex Ltd. (NASDAQ: ENLV) announced it received an Australian patent covering the use of its Allocetra treatment in patients with osteoarthritis. The patent, numbered 2020340629 and titled "Therapeutic Apoptotic Cells for Treatment of Osteoarthritis," provides intellectual property protection in Australia through at least 2040.

The patent covers methods of using Allocetra to treat subjects with osteoarthritis, adding to the company's global intellectual property portfolio for the treatment. Enlivex is currently advancing a Phase 2b clinical trial of Allocetra for moderate-to-severe age-related symptomatic primary knee osteoarthritis.

The company recently dosed the first patient at a U.S. clinical site in the Phase 2b trial. The current trial follows positive three-month and six-month data from an earlier Phase I/II double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial that evaluated Allocetra in patients with moderate-to-severe knee osteoarthritis.

Allocetra is described as an immunotherapy targeting inflammatory conditions associated with aging. The company operates both clinical programs and a prediction markets treasury strategy built around the Rain protocol on the Arbitrum blockchain platform.

Knee osteoarthritis affects more than 32 million Americans and is projected to impact 78 million Americans by 2040, according to the company. The condition affects approximately 30% of the population by age 60, with about half of knee osteoarthritis patients being 60 years and older.
