VIAVI adds TETRA radio testing option to CX300 communications monitor

June 15, 2026 6:30 AM

VIAVI Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAV) announced a TETRA MS radio base station simulator option for its CX300 communications service monitor. The software upgrade enables testing of TETRA mobile station radios without requiring them to be placed in T1 test mode.

The upgrade allows full testing capabilities including transmitter parametric measurements, call processing and receiver BER/MER loopback functions. TETRA, or terrestrial trunked radio, is a global standard for voice and data communications used by emergency services, government agencies and transportation industries.

The TETRA MS option is available as a software-keyed upgrade that requires no additional hardware. VIAVI stated it provides migration support for users of its legacy 3920B platform.

"This upgrade lets technicians test a TETRA mobile station the way it actually operates in the field, registering to a base station without requiring any special test mode on the radio," said Wayne Wong, Director of Product Management, Radio Test at VIAVI.

The CX300 device supports testing of multiple LMR/PMR protocols including TETRA, P25, DMR and NXDN. It integrates spectrum analysis, signal generation and analysis, cable and antenna analysis, 2-port 1 path VNA, power measurement and audio analysis functions.

VIAVI develops test and measurement solutions and optical technologies for communication networks, data centers and various industrial applications. The company is based in Chandler, Arizona.
