June 12, 2026 8:31 AM

49North, a subsidiary of MDA Space Ltd. (NYSE: MDA), announced the U.S. Air Force has renewed its contract for Global Procedure Designer services through a new Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity agreement valued at up to $43 million through June 2031.

The Canadian Commercial Corporation, representing 49North, received the contract covering operations support, help desk services, and software sustainment for the Global Procedure Designer platform. The agreement includes initial fiscal 2026 funding of approximately $4.7 million, with work to be performed in Richmond, British Columbia.

The five-year contract consists of a base year plus four option years, extending a relationship between 49North and the U.S. Department of Defense spanning more than 25 years. The agreement provides framework for maintaining and enhancing the Global Procedure Designer platform, including annual capability updates and compliance with evolving cybersecurity requirements.

Global Procedure Designer supports flight procedure design according to industry regulations including ICAO PANS-OPS, FAA TERPS, and NATO MIPS criteria. The platform enables procedure design across all flight phases through evaluation against aeronautical data, terrain, and obstacles.

The software has been in operational use globally for more than two decades and has been used to design tens of thousands of conventional and RNAV procedures. Defense organizations including the U.S. Department of Defense and NATO members deploy the platform alongside major air navigation service providers.

"Global Procedure Designer has supported U.S. and allied military aviation operations for more than two decades, and the renewal of this long-standing USAF partnership reflects the trust, operational reliability, and continuity the platform has consistently delivered," said Joe Armstrong, President of 49North.

The platform generates outputs required for validation, flight inspection, and publication, including ARINC-424 coding and digital geometry products, supporting industry standards such as AIXM 5.1.
