Spectral AI joins wound healing awareness initiative
Spectral AI Inc. (NASDAQ: MDAI) announced its participation in the American Board of Wound Management Foundation's 10th Annual Wound Healing Awareness Month during June.
The Dallas-based artificial intelligence company develops medical diagnostic tools for wound care treatment decisions. Its DeepView System received FDA De Novo Classification in May 2026 for burn wound assessment.
"Wound Healing Awareness Month is an important reminder that patients living with painful, sometimes complex burn wounds require a timely, accurate diagnosis and a tailored treatment pathway," said Vincent Capone, Chief Executive Officer of Spectral AI.
The DeepView System uses multispectral imaging combined with artificial intelligence algorithms to evaluate healing potential in burn wounds. The device provides data-driven assessments of whether wound areas are unlikely to heal within 21 days and may require medical intervention. Image acquisition takes 0.2 seconds, with processing and classification completed in approximately 20 to 25 seconds.
The system was trained and tested using a database containing over 340 billion pixels of burn wound image data, according to the company.
The American Board of Wound Management Foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting wound care advancement and provider certification for chronic and acute wounds. The foundation promotes quality education and research in wound care.
Spectral AI focuses on predictive artificial intelligence for medical diagnostics in wound care, with initial applications for burn patients. The company was named to TIME's list of World's Top HealthTech companies 2025.
