8x8 adds real-time voice translation to AI Studio platform
8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ: EGHT) announced the addition of real-time voice translation capabilities to its AI Studio platform, allowing agents and customers to communicate across 13 languages without interpreters or channel switching.
The feature enables simultaneous translation during voice calls, with customers hearing their agent's responses in their preferred language while agents receive translated versions of customer inquiries. The translation runs automatically when a language mismatch is detected, with both original speech and translated output captured in call records.
The voice translation capability builds on 8x8 AI Studio's existing features launched since the platform's introduction earlier this year. The platform now supports multiple AI models including Claude, Gemini, Grok, and ChatGPT, with users able to select different models for individual agents.
Additional capabilities include one-click connectors to enterprise applications such as HubSpot, Slack, Stripe, Atlassian, Twilio, GitHub, Asana, Figma, Intercom, Dropbox, and ClickUp. The platform can convert existing phone-tree IVR systems into AI Studio call flows and supports voice-driven agent building through push-to-talk dictation.
"With real-time translation in 8x8 AI Studio, we're helping organizations communicate with customers in their preferred language, making support more accessible, more natural, and more human," said Emil Ivov, VP of Product for Video Platform and Services at 8x8.
The live voice translation feature is currently available in early access for customers. 8x8 operates as a business communications platform provider, offering contact center, unified communications, and communications platform-as-a-service solutions.
