Microchip's France facility gains QML Class Y certification

June 11, 2026 8:02 AM

Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP) announced its Nantes facility in France has expanded its Qualified Manufacturers List certification scope to include QML Class Y under MIL-PRF-38535 standards. The facility previously held QML Classes V and Q certifications since 1999.

The Class Y certification adds non-hermetic packaging technologies to the facility's capabilities, enabling higher integration levels and supporting advanced semiconductor architectures for military and space programs. The Nantes site also maintains ESCC QML and AS9100:2018 certifications.

"We're honored to be a leading supplier of semiconductors to the aerospace and defense industry and continue to deliver the quality and reliability our customers depend on for critical missions," said Patrick Johnson, senior corporate vice president of Microchip's Aerospace and Defense Group.

The facility supports qualification and testing of Microchip's PIC64 High-Performance Spaceflight Computing series, which includes 64-bit microprocessors that are radiation-hardened and radiation-tolerant for space applications.

Microchip operates multiple qualified manufacturing sites globally. In the United States, the San Jose facility holds MIL-PRF-38535 Classes Q, V and Y certifications for digital and space applications, while Garden Grove supports Class Q for analog and mixed-signal devices. The Lawrence, Massachusetts facility provides MIL-PRF-19500 and MIL-PRF-38534 Classes H and K capabilities for discrete and hybrid microelectronics. In Europe, the Ennis, Ireland facility maintains MIL-PRF-19500 certification for discrete manufacturing.

The company states it has over 60 years of space heritage and offers radiation-tolerant and radiation-hardened products including microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, Ethernet PHYs, power devices, RF products, timing solutions and discrete components.
