Enphase Energy launches IQ9N microinverters with GaN technology in Europe
Enphase Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: ENPH) announced the launch of its IQ9N microinverter for residential solar installations across European markets. The product incorporates gallium nitride technology and began shipping June 5 through the company's distribution partners.
The IQ9N microinverters support 16 amperes of continuous DC current and 427 volt-amperes of continuous output power. The devices feature 97.44% EU weighted efficiency and include a 25-year warranty. The microinverters are designed to work with high-power residential solar panels and maintain backward compatibility with the company's IQ7 and IQ8 series products.
The gallium nitride architecture enables peak efficiency up to 97.95% and operates at cooler temperatures compared to previous models. The microinverters convert DC to AC power at each individual solar panel, eliminating high-voltage DC connections used in traditional string inverter systems.
Initial availability includes France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Luxembourg. Enphase stated it expects to expand availability to additional countries in coming months.
The microinverters operate within a temperature range of -40°C to +65°C and feature a double-insulated, corrosion-resistant polymer housing. The devices include built-in rapid shutdown capability and allow panel-level system monitoring through the Enphase mobile application.
Enphase Energy, based in Fremont, California, reported it has shipped approximately 87.8 million microinverters with more than 5.2 million systems deployed across over 165 countries. The information was provided in a company press release.
