US military disables third oil tanker in Gulf of Oman
Investing.com -- The US military disabled a third oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman overnight Thursday as the vessel attempted to transport Iranian oil through an American blockade, according to US Central Command.
The Guinea-Bissau flagged M/T Jalveer was targeted after its crew failed to follow directions from US forces. A US aircraft fired two Hellfire missiles into the ship's engine room, CENTCOM said in a statement.
"U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) acted against Guinea-Bissau flagged M/T Jalveer as it attempted to transport oil from Iran through the Gulf of Oman. A U.S. aircraft fired two Hellfire missiles into the ship's engine room after the crew repeatedly failed to comply with directions from U.S. forces," the statement said.
The incident marks the third commercial ship disabled by US forces this week.
