AC Immune receives $4 million grant for Parkinson's drug trial extension

AC Immune SA (NASDAQ: ACIU) announced it will receive a $4 million research grant from The Vijay and Marie Goradia Charitable Foundation to support extending Part 1 of its ongoing Phase 2 VacSYn trial of ACI-7104 in early Parkinson's disease.

The grant will fund a two-year extension of Part 1 of the trial, which is testing the company's anti-alpha-synuclein active immunotherapy. Final data from Part 1 of the VacSYn trial is expected in the second half of 2026.

The Vijay and Marie Goradia Charitable Foundation was established by Houston businessman and philanthropist Vijay Goradia and his wife Marie to support health, education, and human services initiatives. The foundation has previously awarded grants to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for translational research and clinical trials.

"It is our hope that this grant will contribute to expanding our knowledge of PD and to bringing ACI-7104 to patients in the earliest stages of disease, before its symptoms have irreversibly changed the lives of patients and their families," said Vijay Goradia.

AC Immune reported positive interim results from the Phase 2 VacSYn trial of ACI-7104 in December 2025. The data indicated a favorable safety profile, robust antibody responses, evidence of target engagement, and clinical signals.

ACI-7104 is designed to generate antibody responses against pathological oligomeric alpha-synuclein to inhibit spreading and downstream neurodegeneration in early Parkinson's disease. Alpha-synuclein protein aggregates contribute to neuron degeneration in the brain and play a role in neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson's disease.

The extended trial will assess long-term safety and efficacy data for patients with prodromal and early Parkinson's disease, who typically require prolonged treatment.
