Marriott completes joint venture with Lefay luxury wellness brand
Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) completed a joint venture with the Leali family to acquire the Lefay luxury wellness hospitality brand, the company announced. The transaction adds Lefay as Marriott's first brand focused exclusively on luxury wellness.
Founded in Italy in 2006 by Domenico Alcide and Liliana Leali, Lefay operates two properties at Lago di Garda and the Dolomites. The brand has additional resorts under development in Tuscany, Southern Italy, and the Swiss Alps.
Under the joint venture structure, Marriott and the Leali family jointly own the Lefay brand and intellectual property assets. The Italian real estate assets remain owned by the brand's founders, with properties operating under long-term management agreements with the joint venture.
Lefay properties feature the proprietary Lefay SPA Method, which combines scientific research with wellness traditions. The resorts offer treatment programs ranging from individual treatments to multi-day wellness programs.
Marriott will support Lefay's growth through its development, sales, marketing, and distribution platforms. Lefay properties will be available through Marriott's digital platforms and participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, with integration expected to complete in late 2026.
The acquisition expands Marriott's wellness portfolio as the company operates over 9,900 properties across 146 countries and territories as of March 31, 2026, according to the press release.
