Apollo hires European policy and government affairs executives
Apollo Global Management (NYSE: APO) announced the appointment of two senior executives to lead policy and government affairs in Europe. Huw van Steenis will join as Partner and European Economic & Policy Strategist, while Sarah Jenkins will serve as Managing Director and Head of Government Affairs for Europe.
Both positions start in August and are based in London, Apollo's European headquarters. The roles are newly created positions within the firm.
Van Steenis brings over 25 years of experience in leadership roles at global financial institutions. He most recently served as Vice Chair of Oliver Wyman and previously worked as senior advisor to the CEO of UBS and to former Bank of England Governor Mark Carney.
Jenkins has more than 20 years of public affairs experience, most recently leading public affairs across Europe for CPP Investments. She also held positions in the UK government, including roles at HM Treasury and the Department for Business, as well as in the European Parliament.

Apollo Partner and CIO for EMEA, Tristram Leach, noted the firm's regional assets under management of nearly $240 billion and continued scaling of investment activity in the region.
The asset manager has committed over $60 billion to investments in EMEA, including positions in companies such as AB InBev, Air France, BP, EDF, Intel's Irish Fab 34, Orsted, SOCAR, and Vonovia. These investments span sectors including semiconductor manufacturing, aviation, real estate, and energy infrastructure.
Apollo reported approximately $1.03 trillion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026.
