Rubrik unveils Annapurna to process unstructured data for AI applications
Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) announced the launch of Rubrik Annapurna, a platform designed to prepare unstructured data for artificial intelligence applications without requiring data migration or duplication. The company made the announcement at its Rubrik FORWARD conference in Las Vegas.
Annapurna scans and catalogs unstructured data across distributed systems, then publishes a queryable catalog into data lakehouse environments. The platform aims to eliminate the extract, transform, and load processes that typically require organizations to duplicate entire data environments before making information available for AI workflows.
The platform operates on Rubrik Security Cloud and auto-discovers files across network-attached storage, S3, and object stores. Organizations can pull specific data subsets needed for AI training and inference rather than processing entire data estates.
"For years, the model to make unstructured data usable for AI meant to move, transform, and store it twice, while paying for the whole estate just to use a fraction," said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. "Annapurna completely inverts that model."
Piper Sandler & Co. Chief Technology Officer Corey West said the platform provides "an automated approach to map, govern, and index our estate for AI initiatives, reducing the friction of cross-functional configurations and data sovereignty requirements."
Key features include automated data discovery across storage systems, native integration with lakehouse platforms, demand-driven cost scaling, continuous governance controls, and immutable data lineage tracking. The platform preserves source-system access controls within the catalog and provides verifiable file lineage from source through AI output.
Rubrik Annapurna is available for qualified enterprise partners, with native lakehouse connector support planned for future releases.
