Syntec Optics secures $4.6M biomedical manufacturing order
Syntec Optics Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: OPTX) announced a $4.6 million purchase order for manufacturing laser blood-test cartridges and optical reader subsystems used in clinical and hospital settings.
The Rochester, New York-based company will produce disposable point-of-care cartridges that test for hemoglobin, electrolytes, and metabolites in clinical laboratories. The devices are deployed in intensive care units, neonatal intensive care units, operating rooms, and emergency departments.
"As Syntec pushes advanced manufacturing frontiers in Space and Defense, our established mission-critical and highly-accurate BioMed product lines continue to anchor the business with stable, diversified, recurring orders for products with long life cycles," said CFO Dean Rudy.
The optical subsystems deliver blood gas analysis results in approximately one minute, reducing traditional laboratory turnaround times. According to the company, a typical hospital department may conduct between 400 and 750 tests per month, with busy clinical units processing 15 to 40 patient samples every 24 hours.
"We have shipped about half a million in products for this order and intend to complete full delivery by Q3," stated Jen Gale, Director of Operations at Syntec Optics.
Syntec Optics operates manufacturing facilities for defense technology, space technology, and biomedical applications. The company produces custom optics and photonics products for various end markets.
